The Pit River Company was founded by Brian MacDonald and Joe Nowak. Brian grew up fishing the streams in the Sierra Mountains and Joe was raised fishing for brook trout in the streams of the North Shore of Lake Superior. Joe moved to Northern California 20 years ago, and after swapping many fish stories, a fishing companionship was born.

Brian and Joe began exploring the trout streams of Northeastern California and the Pit River quickly became their “home stream”. They became intimately familiar with certain stretches of water, and began collecting data and daily catch statistics as a vital conservation tool.
